A Chalk Festival? What on earth is a chalk festival you may ask! I asked the same thing. I am a fan of art festivals of any kind, so I was eager to give this new spin on art a try. Last weekend, I attended Chalktoberfest and my mind was officially blown!
Chalktoberfest is an annual 2 day chalk festival, held in Marietta, Georgia, featuring more than 80 professional chalk artists. The festival also features Artisans, Food trucks, and Live Music. On Saturday, the festival doubled as a Craft Beer Festival. I had baby in tow, so I opted for Sunday’s festivities. Maybe next year I’ll give the Beer Festival a go!
The streets of Marietta Square became a canvas as each artist recreated one of the “Old Masters” in front of spectators. As the day progressed, so did these works of art. I watched in amazement as their pieces came to life. As the artists continued to work, I shopped, I ate, and enjoyed all that both the festival and Marietta Square had to offer.
It was a perfect day – beautiful weather, charming town, great shopping, delicious food and amazing art! I can’t wait to return next year!!
Chalk Festivals are popping up all over the country….. if you have one near you, I strongly recommend attending!!
